Cast in 1756, by Abel Rudhall of Gloucester, the current set of bells at St. Mary’s are still rung week-in, week-out by our local band of ringers. We ring for the 10:15 service on a Sunday morning, then for other significant services, wedding and special occasions.

We are a small band, and always looking for new members. Anyone who has previous experience would be more then welcome to come along. If you’ve never tried it before, why not give it a go?

We are always looking for new recruits, and almost anyone over ten-years of age can give it a go. It doesn’t require any real strength, and no musical ability. It takes a little while to master the skill of bell handling, but it give a great sense of achievement once mastered and we always try to make it a fun experience.

For those that progress with their ringing, there are always fresh challenges. New methods to be learnt; towers to be visited; competitions to be entered; and peals to be rung.

• Weekly practices: Tuesday evenings from 7.30 to 9.00 pm
• Service ringing: Sunday morning from 9.30 to 10.15 am
