There are three choirs at St. Mary’s: a morning choir which sings for the principal service and evening choir which sings for evensongs and also a thriving youth choir.

The morning choir sing a wide variety of traditional and modern music at the 10.15 Eucharist. They rehearse on Fridays, starting at 7.3Opm. On the third Sunday of each month the Family Worship service provides a chance for instrumentalists to contribute. They rehearse from 9.30am on that Sunday morning.

The evening choir sings Evensong at 6.00pm every Sunday and practices before the service, from 5.00pm. This service follows the Book of Common Prayer and includes the Psalm for the day and an anthem. On the third Sunday of each month, Evensong is fully Choral and includes a setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis and Responses. The choirs come together for major services and festivals such as Christmas, Easter and Harvest. They sing, also, if required, at the weddings held in our beautiful church.

Our aim is to ensure that the music always enhances the worship and is always suitable for the occasion.
