Creative Wotton in St. Mary’s Church: 14th – 17th September

Come and see what amazing talent there is in Wotton and pick up a bargain or two at the exhibition of local artists.

All the exhibits will be for sale and there will be something to suit every taste. None of the exhibits will have a formal price, so any reasonable offer will be accepted. All the profits will go towards the re-ordering of St Mary’s Church.

There will be demonstrations and taster sessions by local crafters and artists and a talk on the new altar rail kneeler.

Refreshments will be available as well as soup at lunchtime.

The exhibition will be open from 10am – 4pm Thursday 14th September to Saturday 16th September and 1.30pm – 4pm on Sunday 17th September.

Download Creative Wotton Demonstration/Taster Sessions (PDF, 82kb) for a full list of sessions or if you would like any further information please contact Kate Tutty on 01453 844371 or Gillian Carpenter on 01453 843317.

August Messy Church

Messy Church

Saturday 12th August

St Mary the Virgin Parish Church 9.30 – 11.00

Theme: The Still Small Voice

Where and when do you hear God speak? Is it in the busy, noisy workplace, or school, or on the train? Elijah thought he was the only person left in Israel still loyal to God. God spoke to Elijah to reassure him … but how did God speak? Was it in the wind, or the earthquake, or the fire …

Come to Messy Church to hear more of this story, to discover other parts of the story of Elijah.

Come to Messy Church where a warm welcome awaits you. As you come in, you will be welcomed to sit and eat breakfast – toast with a drink … and a surprise extra.

After hearing the story, you can go and find out more about each part of it through a variety of activities. These include retelling the story using Lego, tasting naan bread, making a telephone, blowing fish, making coded messages …

Finally there is a time for celebration, with the story, a hymn, and a prayer.

All are welcome!

Kate Cropper – the new face in the office chair

A new face in the office chair.

The seat has been filled and we are delighted to welcome Kate Cropper as the newly appointed Vicar’s Secretary and Benefice Administrator. Kate took to the chair on Tuesday 4th July and is getting to grips with the many aspects of the role, baptism, weddings and funerals in week one along with the usual notice sheets, phone calls, meeting and greeting plus general administration. Kate brings some different skills to build on Ima’s 10 years in the chair and we very much look forward to her partnership in the life of the benefice. Please bear with us as it will take a week or two for Kate to settle into the chair as new challenges arrive by the day but together we are up for it. The big challenge yet to be faced is to organise the vicar!
Kate, we welcome you.
